2. Light weight and high strength
The relative density ranges from 1.5 to 2.0, only 1/4 to 1/5 that of carbon steel, but the tensile strength is close to or even higher than that of carbon steel, and the specific strength can be comparable to high-grade alloy steel. Therefore, it has a good effect in reducing self weight and increasing strength in high-pressure vessels and other designs. The tensile, flexural, and compressive strength of some epoxy fiberglass can reach over 400MPa.
